When Life Gives You Lemons…
We all know the saying: “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
Although we may know what the saying means, do we actually know how powerful this saying actually is?
Everything is open to interpretation, but if life is giving you lemons, what interpretation can you make?
There are a plethora of things that you can make with lemons: lemonade, lemon pie, lemon cake, lemon soda, lemon smoothies…
So how far does this saying really take us, if all we’re focused on, when life gives us lemons, is to make lemonade with’em?
The truth is, you can make lemonade… But you can also make all the other things that I’ve previously mentioned. And in our lives, this may mean that although what we’re doing is fabulous, it may be high time to look at the possibilities.
When life gives you lemons, life is giving you a world of options. And the first thing we all have to do is to look at ourselves deep and ask ourselves, “what are the lemons of my life?” “What can I do with the lemons that were given to me?” And “am I doing everything I can with the lemons that were given to me.”
Too many times are we blundered by imaginary walls that keep us stuck in the same place, making that same old lemonade.
The lemonade may taste good, it may satisfy our cravings, and it may quench our thirst. But is this the best lemonade we can make? Is this the lemonade we expected ourselves to be making?
Should we be making lemon cake? Or should we be making that lemon pie that we always wanted to make. Maybe that lemon pie is that thing we’re missing in our life.
Now, don’t get me wrong, making lemonade with your lemons is definitely a way to do things. All I’m saying is that we cannot forget to take a step back sometimes and see the bigger picture.
Every so often, it would be a good idea to see if there was anything else we can make with the lemons that were given to us by life.
And if you’re reading this, I challenge you to make something new out of those lemons, even if you have to read the recipe.
