Sifting Through Information

Most information out there is trash.

Markus Winkler

And I’m not saying this lightly.

Some information will actually ruin your life. And if you’re exposed to too much of it or for a too long period of time, you will see the consequences immediately.

This information has the power to change the course of your day: from a happy and motivated one to a horrible and miserable one.

Just think of how many times things were going well and then you find something out that just ruins it for you. And if you can’t think of anything just wonder why you’re not happy all the time.

Usually, when something doesn’t go your way, your mood takes a hit.

Well, it’s the same thing when you get exposed to crappy information. Something like a tragedy or bad news. Or a marketing message that makes you doubt yourself.

This information effectively ruins your mood because you go from feeling great, optimistic, and in love with life, to scared, doubtful and worried. This information can ruin your day.

The sooner you realize this, the more agile you’ll be at sifting through new information, and paying attention to positive messages and things that keep you moving forward while ignoring negative messages, things that hold you back and keep you stagnant.

It is a secret that you can be optimistic, happy, motivated and successful all at the same time. But it doesn’t mean that it isn’t true.

Problems are meant to be solved. Not created.
