How To Avoid Mental Blocks

If there’s one thing I know, it’s that there’s nothing more frustrating than being stuck.

Andrea Piacquadio

Stuck on a project, stuck in traffic, feeling stuck in a relationship. It’s all the same.

It’s that feeling of being stuck that makes us furious. That makes us question why we even go there in the first place. What’s the point of attempting something if you’ll just end up getting stuck midway, and have to quit.

There’s something so magical about the moments when you get stuck.

And don’t get me wrong, I hear you from a mile away telling me that there is no WORSE feeling than feeling like you’re in front of a big bad wall and that wall seems to be getting bigger and bigger as you approach it.

The gut-wrenching feeling of feeling small in the face of a huge obstacle that seems insurmountable.

And if you think I’m just speaking to one group of people, you’re wrong. This is about everyone: the garbage person, to the accountant, to the entrepreneur, to the influencer. We all go through this. And we’re guilty of obsessing over it — don’t lie.

This is the cruellest way to say it: Believing that you’re stuck is fake.

The truth is you are never really stuck until you see the obstacle as insurmountable. As soon as you do that, it becomes real, you need to deal with it, and your emotions get in the way of clear thinking.

This is the first secret: never see the obstacle as the thing that is holding you back from moving forward.

The obstacle IS the thing that is keeping you moving forward.

Just like in a video game, where you need to keep going to finish the level, and you’ll only finish the level until you destroy all the bad guys, our businesses, our relationships, our jobs and all the beautiful problems that come with it are the things that need to be taken on upon ourselves and made the most of.

These obstacles are the source of the strength that we need to find a solution that will solve the problem. Without the obstacles, there would be no purpose, no reason to get out of bed, nothing to work on, nothing to improve, no ways of impressing our customers.

The obstacle is the way. And I’m not the only one saying that.
